CMTC24 is excited to offer the following PreConference Workshops onsite on Tuesday, 12/3/24.

  • PreC02 ~ Empowering Leaders: K-12 Cybersecurity Readiness, Assessment, & Awareness

Details:

  • Full-day BYOD PreConference Registration fee: $140
  • Workshops run from 8:30am to 3:30pm
  • Continental breakfast is included in the registration fee
  • 1-hour long break for “lunch-on-your-own”

PreC01 ~ GenAI for Teacher Productivity presented by Gaby Richard-Harrignton

Join our SpotLight speaker, Gaby Richard-Harrington, to discover how Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) can revolutionize your teaching and enhance your productivity. Whether you are eager to learn or share your own experiences with GenAI, this workshop is designed specifically for teachers like you. About the presenter . . .

Gaby currently serves as a Computer Science Teacher at the Greater Commonwealth Virtual School. She is a digital, life-long learner who over the past 12 years has achieved the following:

  • Massachusetts Supervisor/DirectorPrincipal/Assistant Principal licenses (PK-12)
  • CoSN/METAA Technology Director Certification
  • Apple/Microsoft/Google Level I and II Certified
  • One of the first 100 ISTE Certified Educators in the VIP Cohort
  • Moved Hampshire College online in March of 2020.

Gaby also leads at the regional level as the President of New England ISTE (NEISTE), spearheading a successful webinar series with over 60 archived presentations that includes a badging program, exit tickets, and certificates.

Her career has been filled with exciting and diverse teaching and consulting positions in school districts across Massachusetts. She creates innovative, Universally Designed, personalized, project/problem-based activities that give learners (students and adults) more ownership of their learning. She incorporates GenAI in planning and creation of course materials.

PreC02 ~ Empowering Leaders: K-12 Cybersecurity Readiness, Assessment, & Awareness presented by Sheryl Abshire & Donna Williamson

Explore strategic approaches to evaluating and enhancing your district's cybersecurity posture, including policy development, resource allocation, and risk management. Ed Tech leaders of educational institutions play a pivotal role in ensuring the security and safety of their schools' digital infrastructure. This workshop is designed specifically for IT leaders, focusing on the critical aspects of K-12 cybersecurity readiness, assessment, and awareness. The workshop also highlights the importance of cultivating a culture of cybersecurity awareness among students, staff, and the community, ensuring that everyone plays a part in maintaining a secure learning environment. By the end of this workshop, EdTech Leaders will be equipped with actionable insights and strategies to lead their districts toward comprehensive cybersecurity preparedness, ultimately protecting sensitive data and fostering trust within their communities.

Sheryl is the former Chair of CoSN, a longtime board member, and facilitator for the CoSN Early Career K12 CTO Academy. Donna is also a former CoSN board member and the Project Director for the CoSN Academy. They recently authored The Savvy Edtech Leader
