As synthesized from an extensive literature review, the attributes of school leaders who embody the elements of the HUMAN* framework can generally be defined as those who hone empathy, understand themselves as leaders, make meaning for others as they are motivated by a mission, anticipate and acknowledge the unknown, and nurture trust and relationships. Not since banning calculators has an innovative technology caused as much concern to educators. Will it lead to massive cheating and impact the teaching of writing? Many large public school systems have banned it. Turnitin, and others, immediately began developing methods to detect it. A real challenge, and opportunity, for educators, is to learn to use it thoughtfully, ramp up media literacy programs, and develop assignments that result in original and creative work by students.You will leave with specific suggestions for classroom use, many relevant resources, and thought provoking questions. The term "Electronic Constructivism" was coined by this presenter, who will link these technologies to what it is all about: Good Teaching. I have been involved with the development and management of 1:1 programs since the launch of a 1:1 program Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH in 1993 and later a decade at the helm of the Maine Learning Technology Initiative, and the lead consultant and author of the State of Utah's digital learning plan that is the underpinnings of on-going legislative funding for 1:1 in all Utah public schools supporting over 600,000 students. Participants will learn about the essential elements of a successful, sustainable 1:1 program including change management, program design, public engagement, funding, technical support and break fix, and procurement. You will learn about the features of the XRP and how the XRP can be easily integrated into your classroom to teach robotics, computer science/programming, and other course material. We will teach you how to program the robot using the Blockly graphical programming interface or Python programming language. And we will introduce you to the curriculum materials that have been developed exclusively for the XRP, and we will discuss the XRP professional development opportunities that are available for you as well. With this lens, each learner is empowered to know and share the variability in their learning that includes both strengths and challenges.
