Little Coders, Big Ideas: Robotics Progression at Hampstead Central School
Sarah Wisecarver, Ventures educator, Hampstead Central School, Hampstead School, and Tara McLaughlin, Hampstead Central School
*

Explore the dynamic progression of robotics education at the elementary level, showcasing how students are introduced to coding and programming from kindergarten through fourth grade. Beginning with foundational algorithm concepts and hands-on coding using BeeBot in kindergarten and first grade, students advance to engaging projects like navigating parade routes. From second to fourth grade, learners deepen their skills with Ozobots. Our third and fourth grade students apply foundational programming skills through the CoderZ digital robotics program as well as hand-ons coding using the TI Rover and TI-inspire CXII. Highlighting interdisciplinary applications, fourth graders have used Ozobots to map historical expeditions in social studies. Join us to discover how this comprehensive approach fosters early STEM engagement and coding fluency.
