With social media dominating how we communicate and consume information, media literacy is crucial to teach our students. Based on the work of Learn21's deep dive into media literacy laws across the U.S. for ISTE Community Leaders, this informative session will provide educators with a survey of media literacy laws followed by strategies and resources to develop students' media literacy skills. Attendees will learn how to get students thinking critically about the media they interact with and empower them to make smart choices online. Discussion topics will include: - Why media literacy matters for digital citizenship - Evaluating sources and identifying misinformation - Teaching students to think critically about social media content - Promoting empathy and respectful online communications - Media balance and digital well-being Educators will leave this session with practical understanding and activities to incorporate media literacy into their classrooms. Help your students become responsible digital citizens prepared to navigate their social media world. Join us for an engaging discussion on this timely topic.
