Simplify YOUR Pedagogical Practice & Enhance Engagement
Lindsay Mitchell, Lead Teacher, Pinkerton Academy
*
Level: Beginner

Increasing learner engagement, achievement, and inclusion is a consistent theme in the realm of professional learning for educators. Discover how microinstruction - a habit of instruction that seeks to simplify the learning process for students, parents, advocates, and educators by condensing how information is organized, presented, and assessed ~ addresses these challenges. Learner disengagement is generally not dependent on the information itself, but how information is presented, packaged, and found by the learner. Explore five habits that embrace simplicity, increase engagement, and reduce stress by implementing the reflective practice of microinstruction. By doing so you will engage your learners, staff, parents, and community members in your educational space. This session introduces you to the practice of microinstruction, explores the critical habits, and provides best practices for implementing them in your own educational space. By the end of this session, you will leave with attainable objectives and a transferrable checklist to help you meet those goals.
