This session will examine the evolution of technology purchasing and management in schools from the early 90s to today. I have been involved with the development and management of 1:1 programs since the launch of a 1:1 program Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH in 1993 and later a decade at the helm of the Maine Learning Technology Initiative, and the lead consultant and author of the State of Utah's digital learning plan that is the underpinnings of on-going legislative funding for 1:1 in all Utah public schools supporting over 600,000 students. Participants will learn about the essential elements of a successful, sustainable 1:1 program including change management, program design, public engagement, funding, technical support and break fix, and procurement. The overall goal is to provide Edtech leaders with a more comprehensive understanding of where to apply attention and focus to achieve sustainability.
