Data Rocks! How One Team Engaged Learners with Data Lauren Smith, Education/Personalized Learning Coach, Ellis School, and Abby Dobson, Jen Scott, Ellis School

Level: Beginner Grades: K-5, 6-8

Learn strategies to assist with engaging elementary-age learners with their own data for a more personalized, reflective, and celebratory learning experience. Abby Dobson and Jen Scott share the story of the Rock Star Binder and how this one tool, not only hooked their learners into data, but opened the door to engaging their 1st and 2nd graders in identifying their motivators, setting goals in learning and life, reflecting, and CELEBRATING. Additionally, hear how the Rock Star Binder helped to create a learning theme and therefore built consistency throughout the year by integrating the "Rock Star" thread into everything from rubrics to student-led conferences and beyond. With the help of Education Coach, Lauren Smith, this trio shares their journey from start to finish, including steps to implementation, challenges, successes, end results, and what's next for their Rock Star Learners. Join us for a focused session on how to engage students with their data in a personalized, purposeful, and fun way. This session requires audience participation and a device. Participants walk away with strategies, tools, templates, and inspiration to answer the question: How will you make data ROCK for you and your learners this school year?
