These tasks can involve almost any sort of online or physical resource and be connected to virtually any content area. The only limit is your imagination. Level: Beginner Grades: Pre-K, K-5, 6-8, 9-12, All	Have you ever wondered about the biodiversity that can be found around your school, neighborhood, or community? Join the National Geographic Society to learn how to conduct a BioBlitz in your community with your students. A BioBlitz is an event that focuses on finding and identifying as many species as possible in a specific area over a short period of time. A BioBlitz can happen in most any geography (urban, rural, or suburban) in as large an area as a national park or small as a schoolyard. This workshop will teach you how to organize and conduct a BioBlitz with your students including how to locate, identity, and record organisms using the free iNaturalist.org website and app. Educators will learn about free videos, lesson plans, and other aids to support their students in discovering the biodiversity in their own backyards. BioBlitzes provide great opportunities for your students to become citizen scientists and understand ecological concepts. Kelly Blais, a science teacher from the David R. Cawley Middle School in Hooksett shares her BioBlitz experiences during this workshop as well.

This fast-paced session will be completely updated from last year's McAuliffe Conference session "Nineteen for '19". You will see an overview of virtual and augmented reality activities, classroom uses of "social" robots, excellent sources for royalty free authentic artifacts, and free innovative apps for all grade levels and subject areas. You will learn more about classroom uses of artificial intelligence in the form of smart speakers, including Amazon's Alexa and Google Home Mini. Learn how to go beyond information retrieval and hear about how teachers and librarians are using them for inquiry-based learning, student produced projects, and classroom management. Did you know that you and your students can write your own "Skills" for these devices, creating customized apps? Session ideas will be tied to creative interpretations of ISTE and Common Core standards. You will hear about technologies and innovative ideas that do not yet exist at the time of this proposal but show promise. The term "Electronic Constructivism" was coined by this presenter, who teaches a course titled "Emerging Technologies", and who will stress what really matters: Good Teaching. But where do you begin? Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and personalized learning can be the perfect match to have every learner realize agency and take ownership to learning. UDL leverages the latest research from the neurosciences in order to create more inclusive learning experiences, but how can we use UDL to empower every learner with the tools and skills to become independent self-directed learners with agency, learners who are future ready for college, career and life? *  Level: Intermediate Grades: All	Join this panel as they reflect upon the pros and cons of Voice Assistants in teaching, learning, and the classroom. Can Artificial intelligence be incorporated into classrooms? Can the extensive fact retrieval abilities be channeled into productive lessons promoting inquiry and original thought? Can smart speakers be used to assist teachers and librarians, providing an alternative to traditional classroom routines? Can these assistants support the physically disabled in our classrooms? Can these resources be integrated in a manner that addresses student data privacy? Educators are discovering ways that digital assistants can make their professional lives easier and their instructional efforts more interesting. The positive and negative results of personification, when your "intelligent" smart speaker becomes an increasingly more human like presence are also included in the discussion. Level: Beginner Grades: 6-8, 9-12	Come explore the concept of 20% Time in Social Studies with a focus on Middle School. See how you can help personalize the classroom curriculum and how 20% Time is implemented. The focus of this project is the ownership students take in meeting the 21st Century Learning Expectations of Self-Management, Communication, Decision Making & Problem Solving, and Technology & Information Use. As well as the Common Core Standards in History, CC RH.6-8.1,2,5,7,8: Students will self-reflect and produce a Process Paper emphasizing/defining their performance. We discuss how the core subject teacher and the librarian collaborated to create this unique learning experience. We structured our semester calendar to allow students 1 day a week to deeply explore a topic of their choice. We will have examples of projects students did and plan to invite a few students to come with us and talk about their experiences with 20% time.

Participants will also discover how listening to podcasts can enrich their teaching and learning. Podcasting works for every subject and every student. This session provides hands-on opportunities for getting comfortable with easy, paper-based digital design and fabrication software tools. Participants experience the benefits of rapid paper prototyping, which allows for quick cycles of testing and iterative design enhancements - especially helpful within limited class periods.
